Use cases / A team across time zones

Estimate across time zones without a 7am meeting.

An example for a team spread over several time zones: vote when it suits you, and let the host reveal and finalise when the votes are in.

Coming soon Async voting ships with the next release.

The steps

  1. Turn on async voting

When creating the session, choose Live and async, and optionally set a voting deadline: a reminder, or a hard stop that refuses new votes.

  2. Vote on your own time

Participants open the session, see a Tickets to vote on list, and vote on any pending ticket. They can change or withdraw a vote until the host reveals.

  3. Chase the rest, without peeking

The host sees who has voted, but not what anyone voted. Anyone can leave a comment on a ticket with a risk or a question.

  4. Reveal and finalise by hand

The host reveals the votes, picks the final estimate and finalises. Nothing happens automatically, not even at the deadline. Tickets that need discussion can still go to a live round in the same session.

The result

Most tickets sized without a meeting, and a short live session left for the contested ones.
